Library Strategic Plan
Larsen Family Public Library
Long Range Plan 2009-2012
The mission of the Larsen Family Public Library is to provide quality materials and services, which fulfill educational, informational, cultural, and recreational needs of the entire community in an atmosphere that is welcoming, respectful, and businesslike.
Early Foundations of Literacy and Language: The library encourages young children to develop an interest in reading and learning through services for children, and for parents and children together. The library board and director will continue to look for better ways to enrich the learning experience for our youngest library patrons.
Current Titles and Topics: Popular Materials Library: The library features current, high demand, high interest materials in a variety of formats for persons of all ages, including reader’s advisory services.
Information Literacy: Teaching the public skills needed to find, evaluate and use information resources effectively.
Lifelong Learning: Encourage people of all ages toward self-directed personal growth and development opportunities. The library will continue to give individual one-on-one instruction for the seniors in regards to Internet and on-line catalog searches. Providing an adequate amount of materials for the senior community will be an ongoing activity.
Business Employment and Consumer Information: Whether an individual is looking to change careers at an advanced age, concerned about an unstable current job situation, or just out of school and trying to find a place to start, the library plays a valuable role in helping people find employment.
